Are you still hiding out in the CBD closet? Have you been wanting to try it for awhile now but just haven’t made the move yet, or has it already changed your life?
What is CBD?
CBD is one of 100+ phytocannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant, and can essentially be found in both forms of Cannabis – marijuana and hemp. Industrial hemp is the main producer of CBD as it typically contains less than 0.3% THC and therefore gives you the maximum health benefits of CBD without the added high.
Our bodies already have a natural endocannabinoid system (“endo” means “originating in the body”) and cannabinoid receptors to regulate all kinds of things like: pain, stress response, appetite, mood, sleep, motivation and inflammation. CBD works within this system to influence CB receptors and enhance natural levels of endocannabinoids by occupying certain enzymes in our bodies.
Unfortunately, it’s super easy to throw our bodies endocannabinoid systems out of whack. Things like our stress levels, our diet, and our exercise routine all play a part, and frankly the common lifestyle we all live these days is not benefiting any of us. CBD helps our bodies adjust and adapt to these common stressors and helps to keep our endocannabinoid system operating efficiently for us!

What you should be looking for in the perfect CBD oil …
Quality is everything! You need to understand how the product is produced and what extraction process is used on the plant in order to get the CBD cannabinoids out. There are MANY great products out there, and more and more coming on the market every day. (Reminder: this is an industry expected to grow 700% by the year 2020.) But no all products are created equally and there are still some key components you should be on the lookout for.
- Full spectrum
- CO2 extraction or full plant press
- Organic (& even local)
- Do you trust the brand? How do you FEEL about the brand and how they interact within their community? Do they give back, do you feel empowered by them, do they educate people?
Really, you just have to start somewhere and go from there. As I’ve mentioned before in other articles I’ve written about CBD, it’s still a mostly unregulated market and it can oftentimes be described as a personal science experiment from one person to another. Everyone will react different to different products, different doses, and ultimately need a different form or amount of CBD to see optimum results. This difference among us all happens because there are so many different CB receptors in our bodies and it’s hard to predict how genetic variations in our enzymes will react with our individual nervous system and immune systems.
The key thing here is consistency and sticking with a product to give it time to build up your own personal endocannabinoid system in your brain. I typically tell people to give a product at least 1-2 months before making any drastic changes in dosage or before ruling it out as “not working”. Your results will also greatly depend on what it is you are looking to achieve with CBD – are you looking for anxiety relief, chronic pain relief, targeted pain relief, better sleep, better immunity, or what? CBD products are not designed to target specific ailments, instead that is something that will come down to the overall quality of the product and the dosage that works best for your body to help you achieve the relief you are looking for.
Other CBD Products
CBD comes in a lot of different forms, such as oils, topical lotions, edibles, vape, etc. and personally I use oil for anxiety and inflammation as it’s best absorbed by the body (and absorbed quickly). Those that suffer from arthritis and other physical ailments will a lot of times combine oils and topical lotions for maximum results. I also frequently take CBD coffee and use CBD honey as other ways to get more benefits out of it!
Regardless of how you ingest it, you will still benefit from it’s nutrients, and you just have to find a product that works for you. There are many ways you can incorporate CBD into your life – and already so many more options than there were even a few months ago. Like I’ve said before, this market is growing quickly people!
I first started using CBD oil in April of 2018 after seeing it start to pop up everywhere on Instagram and in podcasts I frequently listen to, such as That’s So Retrograde, and Almost 30. I’ve always been a huge advocate for plant medicine, cannabis oil, and other medicinal properties of cannabis specifically. I was extremely intrigued by the idea to use CBD to help with extreme anxiety that I’ve suffered with since I was a teenager, but also curious about how it might help me with bodily inflammation and just overall wellness in general too.
I’ve been taking CBD oil daily now for over a year and I can’t imagine my life another way. I take it in the morning to battle the stressors of the day, and I take it at night to quiet the thoughts in my mind. As added bonus, CBD also helps strengthen my immune system and reduce inflammation in my body. I’d say that’s a win-win! (The bengal babes also take their own daily CBD for pets to help ease all of their cat anxieties too!)
I was first introduced to Hempworx last fall 2018, through a friend I met on social media – Danielle, Healthy Intentions. It wasn’t until February 2019 that I started using Hempworx CBD oil, and then quickly a few weeks later signed up to be an affiliate and advocate too. I admit I was skeptical of an MLM (multi-level marketing) in the CBD business, which means so much to me, but Hempworx really makes the cut for me. I’m happy I made this decision to turn my passion for CBD into my own business too. I love spreading awareness and getting CBD in the hands of more people.
All Hempworx products are made from industrial hemp plants that are grown on Kentucky farms in the USA. Their oil is CO2 extracted, which results in a solvent free, pure extract product. After extraction the product is dried to also dried to remove pathogens, molds, and heavy metals. This produces a high quality CBD extract, unlike other CBD products out there! Lastly, Hempworx promotes full transparency with it’s customers, and every single batch of CBD goes through third party testing to ensure it’s safety, quality, and potency to uphold their company standards.
More than just oils, Hempworx has topical creams, bath bombs, and pet products too – in fact they have 11 different hemp-derived products total. The products are also all risk free with a 60 money back guarantee.
Recently, Hempworx was also named one of 13 CBD companies that have received an official hemp seal of approval by the U.S. Authority. This award means a lot in terms of CBD quality and I’m happy to say that Hempworx made the list! (None of the other CBD companies I used to use have made this list….)
Although it’s not the same case in every country (right now), in the USA the hemp farm bill was passed in December 2018 (maybe the best thing President Trump has done for us? HA!), making industrial hemp products legal in all 50 states. “The era of hemp prohibition is over!” – Jonathan Miller, legal counsel.
I’ve got 99 problems and CBD solved like 86 of them.
